Why Wellness?
Since earning a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy at Duke University in 2000, I have developed my expertise through working in a variety of settings from inpatient rehabilitation to outpatient sports medicine to home health case management. Drawing from this diverse background and supplemented by extensive continuing education, I use these collaborative experiences now to promote wellness and prevent injury. Efficiency and expedience in treating injury and disease drives our healthcare model today. Many of my former patients (who have been referred more than once for the SAME issue) have expressed frustration in their ability to maintain or advance their activity/fitness level after rehabilitation. Concerned that an athletic trainer will not be able to tailor exercises to prevent re-injury, they try to "go it alone" and either fall into a rut of "their favorite" exercises or just do one form aerobic activity allowing postural weakness and muscular imbalances to wreak havoc and leading to re-injury.
My wellness programs are designed for the individual to keep active, strong, well balanced and never boring.
